Our room in Hotel Yanagibashi. As you can see, it is a very small space but good enough for us. Behind is the double bed and just a little walking space. Toilet is right behind the clothes hanger. Like every hotel, they have a mini fridge, water heater, hair dryer, shower essentials etc. Green Tea packets are free and they refill it every day when they come in to clean up. They are also extra caring, we always come back to a water heater full of warm water.
Its a saturday and frankly we didnt know where else to go, so decided to head to the Pokemon Center in Hamamatsucho.
We had a quick breakfast bought at the 7-11 because there arent much cheap food places around this district. It was kind of odd that a Pokemon store is built in a business area with nothing in relation around.
We thought we had to pay to get in but that was for something else. Entrance to the store is free, and even though it states no pictures they didnt stop us. I guess too many people are doing so already.
Try on Ash's cap which he almost wanted to buy again. There are many stuff toys, keychains, snack foods and items for sale.
And some of the surroundings in the store. We spent maybe less than half an hour inside. Was hoping for more. Afterwards we walked down the street towards Ginza. Just strolling and looking at the buildings and parks.
This was a clock near the Shimbashi station that would move during certain hours of the day. Would be fun to see those people and gears move.
Since we have a lot of time today, Zh suggested that we search for Don Quixote again. Last time we were in Ginza we couldnt find it. Lo & behold, it was one of the shops that we saw but didnt know it was DQ. Didnt have the name written, just says something like Discount store.
Anyway, Don Quixote is a must visit in Japan. It sells many second hand luxury goods, appliances, makeup, food, everything at a cheaper price. I took a video of the first floor which sells makeup. Girl's paradise.
And look at what I found; the crabby headgear that I remembered TOP wearing in Bigbang TV.
And those were some caucasians behind us looking at the dildos, costumes and kinky stuff. Yes they even sell that here.
I chanced upon some small Yankee Candles and was very very happy. Immediately thought of Mou and bought some so I can give her a souvenir.
At DQ they also give foreigners a 5% tax-free rate, so you have to let them know. I was looking confused and speaking english so he already knew, thats one way of doing it. If you spend about 10000 yen above i think they give a higher discount.
We went down to Ginza (again) since we had to pass by. Quite surprised because...the streets were closed off! People were walking on it and even benches were provided! We realised it was a weekend so maybe it only happens then.
Quite a few tv anchorsinterviewing people, and we see girls asked to do Kiyomi as well.
Saw people crowding around this place, and Zh too. Guess what they were seeing.
Apparently 2 Nekos on the signpost. No idea whose, and bet they are wondering "Yawnn, how do i get down from this...what you looking at punk...nen dok sen"
We finished the walk and decided to train back to Asakusa to see Sensoji again, this time the street infront of the shrine. Since on Day 1 we were too early, this time they might be open.
Quite a bad idea to go on a Saturday afternoon wont you agree? After we exit the station there was quite a crowd, and they were watching this little exhibit. Some kind of tradition where people carry this cart and parade around the shrine. There are several groups doing it.
Italian Gelato stall with a crowd, so we didnt participate.
This is the stretch of stalls to the shrine. Its not as crowded here because the food isnt here. The areas with food are so crowded you can hardly move.
I saw dango, so I had to try it. Dont know why. It was like sweet and salty mochi. Zh didnt care for it so I ate it. The shop owners kept gesturing and I realised they want me to step inside to eat it, and they wouldnt let me leave until I finished! Zh says its probably they dont want people to dirty the streets?
Yeah, many many other food stalls around here too that puts our Night markets to shame. This is probably the most touristy temple Ive ever been.
Takoyaki, Ice cream, Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba, Shaved ice and everything. I think it has more varieties than our food court! Well surprisingly, Zh & I didnt buy anything else, just that dango. Sorry we dont have food photos more, thats what happen when 2 non-foodies are together.
Afterwards, we retreated back to our hotel because we can start packing up to leave early for Kyoto the next day~
